This 1928 musical satire of a satire of a satire displays the unique and distinctive musical score that originated “Mack the Knife.” The story centers on a crime lord of Victorian London who marries the daughter of an outfitting shop for beggars. Their adventures together examine the attitudes toward crime, poverty, love, and marriage of underground types who want it all. (Contains adult situations)
